"I'm going to Texas! Seriously, I made a decision, and I feel led to go there. I don't know why, I just know I have been thinking about going for years. Katy will be on her own soon, and well, it's time for me to do what I want. What do you think?"
"Shut up!"
"What?"
"I can't believe this. I was just thinking about going to Texas!"
"No way."
"There's a school I want to go to out there."
"I love it here, but I'm so sick of Everett. It's so expensive, and I'm sick of working so hard and being poor anyway."
"I just feel like I'm backpeddling."
"Well, I'm going out there in January. Why don't we go together!"
"Oh my gosh, yeah! Let's do it!"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm so sure!"
And so it began. I am going to find work, and Julie is going to enroll in grad school. Its time for a road trip. We're in our late thirties. We're still kind of sexy. We're cougars. Its time to hit the road.
Not that we're going to be doing anything bad. We're just going to have some fun.
My friend and fellow blogger RE Knowltonni said Julie and I are the Christian version of Thelma and Louise. I told her that, and ever since, we have referred to each other as such. Unfortunatly, she got dibbs on Louise, which makes me Thelma. I don't want to be Thelma, I want to be Louise. I want to be Gina Davis. But hey, dibs are dibs.
We won't be sleeping with Brad Pitt, and we won't be racing off a cliff precluded by a lesbian smooch. But we may be blowing up a truck or two on the way.
PS: Thanks to those of you who convinced me to stay...again.
Wow! Now how did I miss your pretty little post! Nice to see you. I know, I know, but I really would prefer to be Louise because she was the cute one, and I am a bit ditzy in real life.
